Welcome

Welcome to Our Lady of the Angels’ Parish, Chermside Wavell. Whether you are visiting our Parish for the first time, or have been a parishioner for many years, may I extend a warm welcome to our communities based at St Gerard Majella, Chermside West, and St Paschal’s, Wavell Heights.

Our Lady of the Angels’, amalgamated Parish was formed, on 2 August 2013 comprising the communities of St Paschal Baylon, Wavell Heights and St Gerard Majella, Chermside West.

St Paschal’s Church was developed in the 1930’s and it grew to a thriving community with a dynamic parish primary school, Our Lady of the Angels.  With the growth in the western part of the parish, the West Chermside community became a new parish, St Gerard’s, in the early 1970’s.  Over time, the two parishes went their separate ways until they were amalgamated in 2010.  Taking the name of the school and the suburban name of Chermside, they formed a new Parish as Our Lady of the Angels’ Parish, Chermside. (Date … Decree)

Our communities each have their own identities and strengths, but we have only one aim – to become one in Christ by loving one another as Jesus loves and commanded us to do.  Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we are called to continue the mission of Jesus and we are so proud to do so.  In the words of St Paul, ‘If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Rom 14: 8).

I hope you will enjoy looking around the website to see the range of ministries and activities undertaken in our Parish and the links to Our Lady of the Angels’ Parish School, and Outside School Hours Care at Wavell Heights and the Majella Long Day Care & Kindergarten at Chermside West.

I am immensely proud of the vitality of our communities and volunteers and assure you of a very warm welcome should you decide to celebrate with us at weekend Masses or participate in any of our other events.

Our Mission

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
